"Radical honesty is an incredibly powerful force that training can help develop. It takes a lot of courage and risk taking to be completely honest with and about yourself. Always work to remove and understand anything that occludes your self understanding, any bravado, false modesty, or affectations. A lot of martial artists of all walks become blinded and misled, and belonging to the right school isn't a vaccination against those sorts of stumbles. It requires a vigilance of self-awareness, not only to 'be here now' but to examine what here and now really means, and where you want to go from there."
